Cuba Builds Tugboats
DTCuba.com - August 29, 2011
A Cuban shipyard is building the tugboat Cumanagoto, as part of a contract to
build six such boats for Venezuela's oil industry.
Works are being carried out by the Havana-based company Caribbean Drydock in
Casablanca.
As two previous tugboats built by the company, the boat is equipped with
cutting-edge technology to generate 4,700 horsepower.
The first 12-million-dollar tugboat was delivered in April 2010 and the second one
has been operational since August.
The Casablanca shipyard, which offers its services to any ship sailing in the
Caribbean or near, has signed more than 1,500 repair contracts.
